Parents and Team/Company members,

Team/Company auditions are done very carefully with many evaluators.  The audition this year was very successful in observing and placing students.  Thank you for your patience as this was the first time we attempted a different  format.  We hope to make it a bit more  timely and scheduled in the future.

Your placement on a particular Dance Team/Dance Company  is below.  Please make a note of the “Level “  assigned.   This level is for the summer intensive and for non performing ballet and non performing  jazz class.  Summer intensives are already online:

A-Click on Dance Team or Modern Company and then choose the Summer intensive that is convenient and at  the level the student was assigned . (You may choose a level lower, see below)

B-We prefer students register for a complete week because we try to organize the week with master classes for the students.  Consistency will always reap more benefits.

C-We will email your dance team class for the Fall.  When you receive this, you will be asked to go to the web to sign up for the non performing ballet and non performing jazz class in your level.  We will post online if a class is closed.  We will email or call you if you sign for a closed class.

D-If you prefer to register  in person, visit us during our store hours posted online and on our answering machine.  Place the class you request in the tuition box, with your name and telephone number on it.  Fees should also be forwarded at that time.  DO NOT CALL AND REQUEST A CLASS.  Your spot will not be held.

E-  Class levels-  Students will not be permitted to sign up for class levels above their assigned level.

Level  1 may only sign up for level 1.

Level  1-2 can sign up for level 1 or level 1-2, they cannot sign up for level 2.

Level  2 can sign up for Level  1, 2 , 1-2, 2,  .  They may not sign up for level 2-3 or 3.

Level  2-3 can sign up for level 1 ,2, 1-2 or level 2-3.  They cannot sign up for level 3.

F- Class levels  are designed to  assist the students technically.  Students may sign for  lower level classes than assigned.  Students will benefit by attention to perfecting, strengthening and stretching to achieve.   Students in levels above the one assigned will not benefit because they do not have the strength, stretch, placement… to move at a faster pace.  This is why we will not permit the student to move to a level above the assigned level.

G-Please do not request to be placed at a higher level.  The students have been carefully evaluated and placed.

H-Students are required to attend a summer intensive.    The intensives are designed to bring the students up technically, so failure to take them during the summer may mean placement on a lower level team and an additional 6 hour requirement for the Fall.

We are very proud of all of these students.  Rules for our program are made to bring the students to a higher level of achievement in dance.   We are working hard to provide you with a program to make students the best that they can be.

IF YOU HAVE TWO IN THE FAMILY ON A DANCE TEAM/COMPANY, YOU WILL RECEIVE A SECOND NOTICE WITH THE STUDENTS NAMES AND TEAMS.  YOUR FIRST NOTICE MAY NOT HAVE THE STUDENTS NAMES ON THEM.

WHAT ARE LEVELS?

Level placement is very important to the technical level the student should be working at.  Students are carefully evaluated for strength, flexibility, core placement.  Students who are placed in levels beyond their technical level will only hinder their improvement  in dance.  Professional dancers take every level to improve their technique.  This means you will always be signing up for level one classes through the professional level.  Our classes are designed to help the students meet their goals so they can become a better performer.  The technical care in placement shows at the upper levels.  Students with exceptional technical ability committed themselves at the lower levels.  Students who push beyond their appropriate levels find themselves with poor stretch in extensions, poor turns, poor center of balance and complete lack of executing a step correctly, which is not acceptable in the professional world of dance.

FAQ:

How can I improve my technique?  The more technique classes you take and the more focus you have in class, will help you improve.  Stretching daily and diligently, listening to the teacher about placement and finding your center, using your muscles in your bar work to improve your extensions are only some of the areas you will ALWAYS be working to improve.  You must always challenge yourself.

What if my child is bored because the level is too low?   This is most unlikely.  A student working with strength, flexibility and proper placement  would be obvious to the trained professional.  First, if a student is bored at any of these levels,  they are not working hard enough and will probably not be successful if they feel they have reached their potential at such an early stage.

What can I do to help my child improve at the art they love?  Encourage them to stretch at home.  In dance, the more technique classes they take the better they will be, only if they are working hard and focusing.  You have to decide how much is too much.  We want them to love it and do it for themselves, so don't burn them out.  Keep an eye on intensives and offerings on the website, these are fun and less of a burden in your schedule.  Take them to a professional ballet, modern performance or musical.  When they watch they set new goals.  This is why we enter competition.

My child is better , why is she placed on this team?  Our goal is to make every student work to their potential.  We have no reason to place them where they will not succeed.  We have every reason to work toward the same goal you have.  The students need your support and encouragement, as well as your advice.  There will always be someone out there better.  Set your goals , be honest with yourself, work hard and you will be successful.

Is my child talented enough?  Talent and hard work is the race in achievement .    Talent has little worth without hardwork.  Hardwork without talent means more time to spend on your goal.   Hardwork and talent is the battle.  Those who work harder will win.

We are all excited to work with these groups of very precious students.  We respect the trust that you have in all of us to make them the best that they can be!

 INFORMATION

What is a Dance Team?

Dance teams are audition only performing groups that take  a Ballet and Jazz (encompasses different forms of Jazz and some Hip Hop) technique class and a Dance team class.  Students attend two days a week taking a 2 hour class one day and a one hour class another.  They perform in a Holiday show, a competition, more than one recital at the end of the year. (The more advanced the performing group the more requirements for performances).  Often another required performance in February or March.  They may be asked to attend a workshop.  Students are required to attend rehearsals and performances.  We present a conflict book in the beginning of auditions and beginning of the year.  Parents are encouraged to write in Religious conflicts, weddings, graduations.  We do our best but outside activities are not a priority.  Dance teams are considered serious dancers and they should not audition if this activity cannot be a priority above other activities.  Many opportunities are offered to the Dance Teams-performances in Disney, Cruises, Benefits, etc..

Our advanced teams or Company teams will be required to attend more programs offered throughout the year.  Students should not audition for the advanced team if they are not willing to commit to additional performances.  Advanced teams may be required to travel once a year.
