Private Music Lessons We offer private lessons for students in Voice Piano, Strings, Woodwinds, Guitar. FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT OUR DIRECTOR OF MUSIC: Music@paperformingarts.com Our director will inform you of private lesson time and available group lessons.
PRIVATE LESSON POLICIES When a student enrolls for a private lesson, a weekly appointment is reserved in the teacher’s schedule. Students are expected to attend every lesson, and to practice regularly at home between lessons. PPAA/COMAD is under no obligation to makeup student absences. A repertory class is offered for classes that are missed. This is only offered once every three months. *Students are expected to attend private lessons as scheduled and to arrive on time. As a courtesy to the teacher, a student should notify the office in advance of any absence. *Students who are late for a lesson cannot be guaranteed a full lesson. PPAA may consider a student who is late for half of his/her lesson to be absent; in that case teachers are not required to teach the remaining lesson time. *In the event of an emergency due to inclement weather, PPAA will make every effort to notify students of cancelled lessons. Students are encouraged to call the office in case of bad weather, a message will be placed on the answering machine and also on the website.(Often there are technical problems with the website during bad weather, so it is best to call the school). There will be a Snow Cancellation option on the opening message. Please be sure to press the option for information. *In the event of a teacher absence, a substitute teacher will be provided for the lesson. *All communication regarding lessons and scheduling must be done through the office. Teachers contact information is private, please do not request this. If you have a question for the teacher, please ask to speak with them the last 5 minutes of the class time. Teachers may not take time during someone elses lesson to speak to a parent. If a student is absent from a lesson, he/she is entitled to a general music make-up class(repertory class). A general music make-up class is a group repertoire class where the students must come prepared with a piece to perform. It is not required that the student have the piece memorized or completed. The teacher will comment, discuss and/or recommend areas for improvement. Music Theory will be taught and practiced. A sign up sheet will be posted in the office and it is the student’s responsibility to write their name on that list. This is an excellent class for musicians. We recommend these make ups are taken. *Students are only entitled to this repertoire class if they call 24 hours in advance of their missed scheduled lesson. *Any student not continuing with lessons for the following quarter must notify the office in writing 30 days prior to the start of the next quarter. Sessions continue throughout the year and the summer. To achieve students should attend all of the sessions. *Building a music library is necessary when taking private lessons. Students are expected to purchase music books and music when specified by the teacher. *Music recitals and vocal showcases will be organized throughout the year. All students are welcome and encouraged to perform in these informal performances. All students will be emailed a school handbook. If you need a hard copy, please request one from the office. For students withdrawing from lessons after a quarter has begun: Tuition will only be refunded, if the student contacts the office one week prior to dropping the lesson. Remember: Our teachers are professional and you have a scheduled appointment. Music Session Schedules for 2008-09 are here. See Brochures for pricing on the home Page
